A GBP260,000 Rolls Royce retrieved from a stricken car transporter ship without a scratch could still be destined for the breakers yard.
The Hoegh Osaka was carrying over 1,400 luxury cars to a German port when it ran into difficulty in the Solent on January 3.
The 200 metre-long vessel was deliberately grounded to prevent it capsizing.
After a number of failed attempts to right the ship, it was finally refloated on January 7.
Severe weather hampered the rescue, causing a tug boat to crash into the stricken vessel.
Following the painstaking recovery operation, salvors have now begun to remove the ship's precious cargo which included a black GBP260,000 Rolls Royce Wraith - destined for the Middle East.
Dozens of unscathed, brand new Range Rovers and Jaguars were seen being driven off the Osaka and onto hard standings at Southampton Docks.
Though some of the vehicles did show signs of cosmetic damage and at least one had to be removed using industrial fork lift trucks, most appeared to be in good condition.
And though the ship's owners Hoegh Autoliners have indicated that experts will assess each vehicle for damage, past incidents where car transporters have listed suggest that the entire consignment could be crushed en masse.
