Premier league legends are set to descend on a sleepy south Bucks village for a club fundraising day in March.

Hambleden FC will take on the might of the Spurs Legends FC, with big names such as Teddy ****tingham, Ruel Fox and Darren Anderton lining up against the village side.

The day-long fundraiser is generating cash to buy new ground equipment for the Wycombe and District League club and to help keep its new clubhouse open.

One lucky bidder will win a place in the Spurs squad, including the dressing room experience with former England internationals and at least 15 minutes on the field.

Children will have the chance to be team mascots for both teams, for a donation fee.

The Spurs players will also be on hand to sign autographs and pose for photographs.

The club is hoping to make a day of it, with food, drink, stalls and entertainment and a raffle with prizes including a tour of Wembley Stadium.

Drovers pub and the dovecotes as dappled sunlight poured through the trees.

Ah, childhood, snin! A simpler time. A time before hangovers and mortgages. But lost now. Lost. Never to return.

I recently discovered that the cigarette of choice for the discerning smoker is actually* named after the Great Marlborough Street area in London where the original factory used to be, and not after something American as I had assumed.

*According to a book I'm reading which may not be entirely reliable.
