match or whatever looks right. Pop a glob of superglue or epoxy or whatnot on the end, attach said to the broken off jack (taking care not to touch the surrounding contacts). Leave to harden and set. When it has set pull it out and the broken off jack should hopefully come with it.

the female socket on the device which will likely have caused hairline fracturing where the jack on the iPad/Pod is soldered to a board. The Apple shop won't be able to do it and will tell you it's trashed.

Best get wifey to clean it up a bit mate. I'm your only hope.
