Blimey. I mean, I know he was found not guilty, and all, but... you know, what with him having actually done it, you'd have thought a respectful distance would have made sense.

I don't think he should be publicly denounced, a la Savile; I just think that all three of them going to his funeral is quite strong. Even without the attempted murder, his bumdering shenanigans didn't do the libs much good. The silly sod really should have just kept it in his pants.

that it was illegal, and as a high-ranking politician, enthusiastically engaging in illegal behaviour probably wasn't the brightest call.

Apparently the FBI told MI5 in the 60s that he'd been uo to some bumming whilst in the US, and MI5 told plod to keep an eye on him but not to nick him.
