No one seems very christmassy this year. It's quite depressing.

If you ask me everyone seems too christmassy and have done for months.
Kind of ruins the impact of Christmas

very Christmasey either :-(
My girlfriend, an inveterate food snob and devout traditionalist when it comes to Christmas lunch staples, is doing her first stint with my side of the family this year. I have warned her to expect the worst.

Next week we'll ramp it up a bit with Elf, Bad Santa and Scrooged.

it could resemble a traditional Christmas dinner, in terms of the fundamental foodstuffs (without anything remotely sexy like bread sauce). But then you have to eat it and the appalling truth of the quality of ingredients and preparation is revealed.
No jewfood, though. He's a goy.

As long as you remember to sack off turkey in favour of something with some taste and texture, it's a bog simple meal.

so the girlfriend and I stayed at home and did duck.
This year it's back to theirs. I persuaded them to sack off turkey a few years ago, but in their impoverished world an adventurous alternative is beef or gammon :-(

You could offer to bring round a goose as your contribution.

and profoundly belligerent brother-in-law.
I once took round a beer-soaked bread and butter pudding and it offended his working class palette so much he nearly vomited.
What are you having this year?
Sir Charlie of Nicholas

Lobster cocktail, roast goose, stuffing, forcemeat, roast potatoes, sprouts with chestnuts and pancetta, spiced red cabbage, little sausages with bacon. No dessert. Christmas pudding for any weirdo that can stomach it.
Boxing day - cold goose sandwiches :cloud9:

Otherwise being a non-practising Jew would not preclude one from eating certain foods which may be see as traditional.
See lots of Irish people and fish on a friday.
