For all his undoubted quality I can't help feel that Cesc is being used as just another stick to beat Arsene with.

it might be worth bringing him back even if it meant sacrificing a player like Wilshere or Ramsey.

I am open-minded to the possibility that Wenger's commitment to development may. in this regard and without considering any wider context, hold us back.

I guess in his mind, the next time we have a Cesc on our hands, we'll be in a better position to keep him (or at least adequately replace him if he does leave) and that his policy of development is with a long-term view that incorporates being able to keep our best players.

Which is fair enough, I suppose.
