That aside. Even if it would.

Doesn't excuse our team for playing like a bunch of cunds.

We spent a similar amount to them in summer. They concentrated their budget on Diego Costa and Fabregas, we spent 28m on Chambers and Debuchy.

Twenty-eight million pounds.

If we're taking net spends into account then fine but let's at least acknowledge the not-at-all-dodgy 50m David Louise deal then.

I’m not entirely sure they did anything wrong here, simply took advantage of a buying club that appear to have rather oddly placed a very high value on the acquisition of the Brazilian defender to play alongside his team mate from the national side.

I would say Selecao but people would shout at me.

Though actually, you can see the footballing logic in the Louise deal when you consider most teams play with at most one player up against PSG so they would get much more use out of a buccaneering, ball playing, footballing defender then they would a traditional 'stopper' type.

The accountants will have to move the billions from the 'Donations' column to the 'Sponsorship' column. Maybe the 'Fifty million pound executive box' column.

Lots of changes in the big red book to be done

His stock fell dramatically at one point in the summer, specifically the German game when he appeared to utterly lose control of himself.

He has always been a wee bit kamikaze but I quite like him. Far from a traditional defender as such but effective.

It is possible that Blanc simply saw the combination of Luiz and Silva at international level and wanted to pair them at club level. Having identified the player he wanted, who was widely known to be available but at a club than can choose to say no, the stupidity then kicked in at boardroom level where PSG appear to have little regard for any potential FFP rulings. If as a selling club you have buyers who are willing to pay over the odds why would you turn them down. See as an example the transfer dealings of Man City in the initial years after their takeover, years in which we were one of the clubs only too happy to accept their sometimes generous offers.

Why they did not go for a more able defender for less, as Richard has suggested, who knows. Why did Wenger go for Debuchy and not a cheaper alternative? A personal assessment of a player by a manager then backed by his board.

United paid 30m for Ferdinand about 10 years ago, PSG now have paid 50m for Luiz.

Silly maybe but I am struggling with the specific dodgy element of it.

Or best case, depending on your view.

Very sensationalist article a few years ago about the mind blowing and simply obscene amounts that YYT would earn at City. The sum stated of course assumed payment of more or less every bonus applicable including major European success which quite simply is not happening.

No f**ker outside the inner workings of the football clubs know exactly what is paid to whom.

teamed a world-class talent in Sanchez with 'lesser' names.

For the money we spent on Debuchy and Chambers we could have kept Jenkinson and bought Fabregas.

Missing out on Fabregas was the real killer.

Fabregas would have replaced the injured Ozil and off-form Ramsey with a genius who would have settled instantly and Chelsea would have been stuck with someone like Oscar or Willian as their main creator - good, but not Fabregas-good.

Is it really a coincidence Chelsea received 2 stupidly high payments?

Presumably PSG and Everton, to different degrees, are in cahoots with Chelsea to allow the latter to manipulate FFP dealings by agreeing highly inflated deals.

A boardroom, or perhaps simply at owner level, based dodgy deal making scenario.

A cynic would suggest that they asked for those deals to be inflated in some way or another, which will then be repaid at a later point either in cash or kind.

Maybe not.

I'm not a cynic all the same.

I tend to think a lot of the Luiz issue is down to the ridiculous transfer or spend policy of PSG.

Nasri to City for 25m or Hleb (now at Konyaspor!) for 12m to Barca?

Anelka for 23m to Real Madrid must be like a 60m or 70m deal today.

No one has done better than us at selling high and buying low. If anything, Wenger seems less effective when he has money to spend.

Like you I cannot see why PSG penalise themselves to help another club, a rival in fact for the Champions League.

As for Everton effectively wiping out their entire summer transfer budget on the back of future promises from Chelsea – players on loan maybe, them paying over the odds for Coleman maybe.

There's just nobody in football who thought he was worth that much. It's like paying 40m for Tiote or something

Let's keep with what we know. PSG paid a stupid amount of money for Luis...
There are those who would point the finger of riducule at us for Ozil. No coincidence that Maureen had no interest in acquiring his services for a second spell and plenty of people who watched him play week in week out warned that he was a lazy inconsistant c**t.

And what's more you're putting your own ignorance into other people's actions. Mou refused to loan us Ba on the basis he thought Ozil would make us a force, he was also one of the most consistent creative players in europe and was perceived as far from lazy.
