imply that commentators who are fans of football as such, cannot be good at what they do. And perhaps those are indeed preferable to biased ones. They are rare, though.
I'd rather have someone who is emotionally invested in the game because of his allegiance to a club or country than someone who isn't emotionally invested in the game because he doesn't really give a **** or feigns interest. Of course enthusiasm and lack of bias aren't mutually exclusive, though.

And it's quite nice to hear some commentators's hearts break.

all yap about according to their allegiances but as an old fart the idea that the commentators are basicaly describing the action is, for me, the fairest way of doing it.
