Aren't bouncers basically designed to intimidate? I know they sometimes lead to players taking wild swings which gets them out, but I'm somewhat surprised there's never any talk of them being outlawed.

Then again, I know absolutely f**k all about cricket should probably shut up before I embarrass myself any further.

Batsmen are so well protected that there is little problem but you can't legislate for every situation. Sometimes freak occurences happen

Shawcross was only seen as reckless because of the injury sustained by Ramsey, which in turn has resulted in him being vilified by most of the Arsenal support.

Flamini arrives into an opposition player equally as late or as high and some people on here fall over themselves laughing and  etc.

Probably goes back to your other often made comment on football supporters.

Shawcross chucked in a reckless tackle and broke a leg, potentially threatening a player's career. This would be enough to make many people reconsider the way they play their sport. The chap who bowled the bouncer, a delivery I understand is designed to intimidate, almost killed the batsman. There is every chance such an outcome would make most right-thinking people consider whether they want to continue taking such a chance.

An apology for your unwarranted rudeness would be nice.

In both cases I would hope that as professional sportsmen both players know their intention was never to hurt or injure the opponent and in this case to simply carry on playing the game as they had before.

I was involved in a one v one collision with a player when I was very young, resulted in him having a broken arm. It was not deliberate on my behalf though in hindsight regrettable for the poor chap, however not one single f**k did I give.

to intimidate and that actually has the potential to kill is so readily accepted as 'part of the game'.

I'm sure there are examples you could point to in other sports, such as Formula One, so I'm aware I'm essentially talking horse****.

that very few top class batsmen would be intimidated by a bouncer - it used more as a tactic of surprise to ensure a batsmen can't just play off the front foot with impunity. If anything the amount of protection has made the batsmen less wary of it, hence playing silly shots. Batsmen only get hit generally when they take their eye off the ball

Why should he? It was Hughes' fault - always shocking at playing short-pitched bowling. Incidentally, if - as I sincerely hope he does - Hughes recovers fully,I've no doubt he'd be the first to admit it was his fault and not the bowler's.

I don't mean that. It is sarcastic.

Seriously, though, I'm sure he's upset, but he did nothing wrong. Hughes f**ked up while playing a potentially dangerous sport. These things can happen and everyone knows it.

questioning whether he wants to take the chance of such a thing happening again, possibly with even worse consequences the next time. An emotional response to a shocking event.

I must be expressing myself badly. I have a hangover. I apologise.

I don't care if thick common people want to batter each other to death. I despise the freaks who want to watch this happen.

I'm prepared to bet my hangover's worse. I'll bet, for instance, that you didn't spend much of last night drinking schnapps in a small hot tub with three other naked men?

rubbed her buttocks in his face. Then I went to bed. Got three hours' sleep and caught a flight at 6am to Helsinki. Had to ask my taxi driver to turn down Freebird on the grounds that it was 4.30 in the morning.
