started to have an actual transfer budget which isn't contingent on us selling our best players to finance it, and for the remarkable job he did in keeping us in the the top 4 over the last decade, we owe him a fair shot.
I think he's learned from the failure of the last transfer window (I f**king well hope so :hehe:)

Let's see what he does.

Nothing I suspect.

He spent some money, whoopy f*cking do. He didn't address the glaring need to buy another central defender and a defensive midfielder. Epic fail if you ask me.

Make no mistake here. He would have long been fired at any other club.
Some may see that as a positive towards the cluture of our club, some may see it as resigned apathy from a largely disinterested CEO but Wenger is one of the highest paid managers in the world of football, ( top 5 ) which should correlate in some way with performance.

Arteta, Ramsey and Wishere have no legs and were always going to be exposed against a half a decent counter attack ...

we need some criterion too.

What constitutes still being ****/successful. etc.

but our problems are clearly nothing to do with rivals superior financial power.
Infact we appear to be getting worse, the squad gets more imbalanced every year, I'm still staggered that he could watch the games against any half decent team last season and not think we needed a midfielder.
Then you have a 19 year old with 20 games experience covering three of our four defensive positions, why did we loan out Jenkinson?

Unfortunately I don't think he does learn, he didn't learn from any of the hammerings we took last year and I don't really have any confidence that we will address our problems in January.
We will possibly get a centre back on the 31st, Debuchy and Koscielny will probably come back and we'll just gamble again.

He deserves to see out his contract only on the basis that the board of the club think he is the man to continue to take us forward throughout the duration of his deal. His financial management during those initial years at the new stadium are utterly irrelevant.

The first sentence above is the only consideration which the board should be taking into account. If they think he is not that man then his exit, or the timing of, would then be dictated by the ability of the club to employ their chosen successor.

Now, having typed all that ****e above he will see out his contract.

midfielders available in January, but he should be able to bring in a half-decent backup central defender.

We're not as yet so out of touch to panic in that respect.

Yes any realistic view of challenging for the league title is probably gone which in itself is very damning, but a decent run in form at this stage or post Xmas would soon see us back in the usual place.

We're helped somewhat by the extreme averageness which appears to be spreading through the other sides who would be in that mix.

I only hope that the man has the ability to achieve top 4 and then has the good sense to accept that at 65, his work here is done.

You have no f**king idea who is available in January or indeed most transfer windows.

Players that may not be available can very quickly become available, if you get my drift.

the whole world is telling him Arsenal need a midfielder so he's showing them that the midfield he has assembled is good enough.
I really cannot think of any other explanation, it's that obvious, especially to a man of his intelligence.
I'm not sure we need a "top quality" one, in regards high profile anyway, we need someone mobile, strong and with a brain cell.
Surely there must be someone with our finances and scouting we can get from somewhere?

Quite shocked that his remuneration is higher than the managers at Real and Barca ( less so Barca these days, perhaps ). I also question the Allardyce package.

As each day ticks by on the calendar and nobody arrives at the club, the initial optimism and suggestions of players like Hummels or whoever the 2015 equivalent of Kevin Hofland is.

Then around the 22nd the panic sets in, the dawning realisation of the fact that we have been here before and names start to sneak into the media such as Nastisic from City on loan, or Curtis Davies from Hull and then it is the 29th.
