Didn't care for them much back when they were big but in my sad, middle-aged quest to relive my salad days I've bought tickets to see them in San Francisco in January.
Watched the documentary on them last night and thought it was very good. They're a strong band musically, have some banging tunes and put on a good show - nice Arsenal contingent too. $50 for floor tix at the Warfield is a bargain IMO.

Anyone else rate them? Or go ahead and sneer.

Don't think I'd go & see them unless they were playing the local pub tbh. There are others from that era who I will go & see though (Simple Minds, Human League, Ultravox) & others I have (Duran Duran, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Blockheads etc). I won't go & see From The Jam though as Foxton is a sperz c**t.

at the Warfield last year and that was a dream come true apart from a couple of the line-up not being there. Seen Weller there several times too.

I saw that From the Jam on the telly and thought the new singer did a better Weller than Weller.

and you forgot about who was missing as soon as they started playing. Funny seeing loads of 50 year-olds dressed as rude boys. I'm seriously considering getting dressed up for Spandau...maybe the early Blitz look as baggy clothes are more forgiving of a middle-aged spread.

Northern CA is great for gigs as it's full of venues and English bands that would command high prices back home can be seen for pretty cheap here. I saw the Arctic Monkeys twice for $25 a ticket and was moshing up the front for the Weller gigs with ease for the same price.

Culture Club are playing Oakland soon but I can't bring myself to pay for that. Mid-life crisis only stretches so far.
