As mentioned on here before. How limp is 'Annual leave'

to describe any given situtation.

I rather enjoy the richness of our language. It is this very strewngth of English which allows me to communicate with people all over the world, whenever I am away from my desk travelling on annual leave.

...and adopt that term en masse whether it makes any sense or not.

Annual leave is a perfect case in point, it sounds like that person gets allowed out once a year.

See also people who constantly say "Myself" and "Yourself" in professional situations, despite it making them sound like a subnormal. They sound like Dave Basset when he deliberately, painstakingly pronounces his Ts.

worst? 'Holiday' is a ridiculous word to use to describe taking time off, for instance, since it actually means 'Holy Day' and refers to one day that is holy as opposed to two weeks in the sun.

he doesn't want to speak with you.

And anyway, that's totally different from the attempt-to-sound-professional-and-cleverer-than-you-are nonsense.

Like people who say "Re:" in actual conversation, for instance.

Anyway, I always take "away from his desk" to mean "in the ****ter", which I'm sure is the last thing the person at the other end wants.

I'll take action from my side.

You can do that from your side.

Pussies.

taking off a hat and putting a different one on. :-|

You know those moments where you realise humanity isn't worth the bother?

Not that there's anything wrong with that. I mean, we've all tried it.
