Say you bought an album on tape in 1992. It's one of your favourite all time albums and you've listened to it loads, bought everything else the artist has done, t-shirts, gigs, books, the lot.

If somebody gave you a memory stick with that album on and you uploaded it to your personal music player would this be theft?

partner and much of it was ripped from CDs. Now, however, since I've gone to the Cloud, all that stuff has disappeared and I've only got the stuff I've bought from iTunes.

So, were I to download the same stuff illegally (which I haven't due to technical idiocy) I would only be doing so to avoid paying for it twice. No artist has lost out in any way, but I still get Sir C looking at me askance.

Honestly, where's the justice? :shrug:
