seen to be on the wrong side of at the moment. Merkel knows that and she also desperately needs Britain in the EU. At the same time, she can't be seen to be supporting a challenge to a fundamental principle of EU integration. Her words are for public consumption, but a fudged deal will be found that makes everyone look like a winner. Nobody wants the UK out - least of all the Germans since it would leave them shouldering yet more of the economic burden.

The thing which grates my balls about this is it has nothing to do with the free movement of 'Workers'. Voters are concerned about the free movement of Criminals, benefit scroungers, asylum seekers. We have no control over the quality of who comes in or the continuing degrading of British Culture. There are entire Towns which have been completely ripped apart by this. It is not being overstated.

Both politicians and political establishments actually want the same outcome: namely Britain remaining in the EU on terms that its electorate finds acceptable. They're both actually working for the same thing - this 'antagonism' is purely for show.

Of course, the whole strategy relies on the idea that the UK's electorate will be fooled by all this flummery.

The EU is a great idea but is not working because the policies harm its members rather than helping. Its been one big shambles after another. Sadly it has to break up unless the clowns are removed. That wont happen because they are in it for themselves. Thats why we have to leave. We can happily trade globally and protect our borders and heritage at the same time.

Made a rather good Thai red curry yesterday, pounded the paste out myself in a pestle and mortar. Whether it actually made the thing any better than just using a blender, I couldn't say, but I certainly felt more virtuous about it.
