View Full Version : Went to the Imperial War Museum yesterday. Top stuff. Only problem is: there's too much stuff in

there about peace and civilians. What we want is military hardware, uniforms, weapons and tales of derring-do and thrashing the hun. Talk of peace and the home front is well boring. I blame the socialists.

Clearly it's the socialists.

Might go the new thing at the science museum as well. Quite cool actually going to London on holiday - get to do all this **** I used to take for granted

The rest of it was OK. Too much tedious stuff about the UN, though.

Not much mention of wars before 1914, though.

were writing a book and they were more than delighted to help. I once asked to see gun-camera footage of Typhoon and Tempest rhubarbs and they happily set up a projector (!) and showed me some great stuff.

'NNNNNNYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHH!'
'DAKKA-DAKKA-DAKKA-DAKKA-DAKKA-DAKKA-DAKKA!'
'ACH, MEIN GOTT!' 'GOTT IN HIMMEL!'

That sort of thing. Mind you, you'd probably have got some funny looks.

You'd be better off finding a soft play area or a decent park

Sir Charlie of Nicholas

Oughtn't you just keep the thing indoors until it can contain itself and not make life a misery for everyone else?

It's when he's stuck at home when he's a massive pain in the hole.

And of course, if he did kick off in a public place like a museum, I would make a swift exit.

Relax, we're on the same side here, mate. I'm not going to take him to the Delauney and ruin your dinner.

And don't worry, the kid is not invited to either.

fans in a stadium. They know that the sole thing you have in common is the reason you're there (ie the kids/football team). The consequence of which is that this then becomes the only topic of conversation - even though it may be the last thing you want to talk about and that you may disagree profoundly, you're stuck with it.

I made the snake and pygmy. A triumph, if I may say so. Enormous, though - we'll be eating it all week.

I'm making the beef and ale pie today. I got some shin and some feather blade from Dennis yesterday. I'm going to give the stew 5 hours in the oven, i think.

I chopped mine up so fine all one got was the lovely flavour without the offally texture that can be off-putting.

It did make me wonder if I could have achieved the same effect by simply pissing in the stew, actually. :rubchin:

I used a bottle of Banks' bitter and one of those pouches of beef stock. It really was awfully good.
