Effectively we started the season with a 19 year old with 20 games experience as cover for right back and both centre back positions.

Santi is a superb footballer who is always a threat, as is the Ox who is the only other player to feature regularly in the three forward roles - quite why you think they should lose their place to Campbell - is beyond me :shrug: I've also no doubt if he were starting regularly you would be completely dismissive of him as you are of our other players

Doesn't mean I don't think we should a bought a centre back btw but given that Anderlecht didn't have a shot until the 60th minute - and that sailed over the bar by some distance - not sure you can say he had a mare :shrug:

Potential aside, we both know he could still end up being a disappointment. He doesn't have any opposition for the central role and I wouldn't be advocating Campbell in that slot either.
I just think the kid has something to offer down the flanks that we don't have until perhaps Walcott returns.
Most of our moves end up being funneled through the middle and any opposition manager sets up to nulify our threat.
We're crying out for width and Campbell can play that type of game.
He created space at Hull and again last night.
The Ox looks far more effective in the middle than on the wings too.

Think it was hard on him - Middlesex seem intent on getting the best out of the home produced talent - Robson, Malan, Morgan - and Denly was probably the first to suffer. Paid off in Malan's case last season though - 1137 runs :-)
