View Full Version : If indeed Wenger would have considered quitting had we lost the Cup Final, would it be fair to say

that he overestimated its importance?

I mean, it doesn’t seem to have bought him any more time with the fans, even though he followed it up by finally spending some f**king money.

The commenter, not AW.

Although you never know....

As it is, the presumption is that the end is near.

And was not in any way linked to the outcome of the game v Hull in May.

Succession planning and all that.

Unless the succession planning is "Steve Bould", of course.

What surprises me is how fans sniff at this as if it is somehow evidence of the club's failings. To me there is no better testament to Wenger's success than the fact he still retains the overwhelming backing of his bosses.

There isn't another candidate, as far as I can see. Such a polite young man, and always so well turned out.

For all we know Bouldy is an absolute f**king cretin.

but it is possible, yes.

Like I say, some story that would be.

I just think it would be nice, that's all.

about Arsenal’s values and tell them how Big Tone and Martin would have died for the club, then at midday go and make them defend how I showed you on that diagram that time. Then sit with them when they have lunch and let me know if any of them slip any extra salt into their steamed broccoli. Then same again tomorrow.”

and...

“Hey Bouldy, get us into the Champions League and win us a trophy while you’re at it. Then do it again the next season, and the next, and the next, and the next.”

Fa cup was nice but we've not been very convincing at all.

In any case, nobody would be talking about giving him a twenty year contract from the start. He'd have to earn his time, as Wenger has done.

And does so in a manner which allows the club to thrive at a corporate level. What's not to love from their perspective.

If however the tide turned in respect of the support, and it has been turning in recent years, then who knows.

He will never be pushed though equally he may not be offered a new contract when that time comes.

who achieved more than just "relative success".

So why don't they just go and hire one who can? Because they might insist on spending a f**kload of money in their attempt to do so?

notice how even our much-maligned new badge makes sense now that Danny Welbeck, Mesut Oezil and Alexis are wearing it?).

Basically, this whole thing is a question that will be addressed and answered when the time arrives and not before. And even if we don't get it right, because of Arsene Wenger, we cannot really get it wrong either.

If you follow.
