I will go to Italy this year and see their version.
Bet it's all church stuff and for a change a different type for pasta on Christmas eve.

Christmas hasn't been the same since my Grandmother died.

I am quite glad to go away this year. It's so boring now.

I think the main difference is that it is not all about the 25th. It is one long celebration from the 24th through to the 6th January. So every day is a bit of a feast of family gathering and eating etc. People come and go on various days in their plans, we normally peak at about 25 people for lunch at the family home. Lots of kids, lots of fun, lots of drinking and lots of eating. We go to church on the 24th, but that is about it.

Last year I worried my Granddad by not immediately going to the pub as I was making scotch eggs.

I suspect he still thinks I'm a bender and my gf is a ploy.

I assume Christmas will be only even more food. Plus there is always some bread about or some ham.
