View Full Version : Now, while I hold no particular brief for Farage and don't deny the crassness of what he said,

surely it's actually quite a good idea not to let people with HIV into the country if you can help it on the simple grounds that costs a bloody fortune to treat it and the people with it are unlikely to contribute to your country's economy?

Or am I missing something?

require long and expensive treatment on the NHS. It seemed a perfectly valid sentiment, if rather inelegantly put.

Although from what I've seen from my frequent trips to Kings, good luck with that project http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/ohwell.gif

Still, in return, they help keep our population down through sheer incompetence, so y'know.

This meant registering at the local surgery, a Kafkaesque task given that I had no NHS card. Anyway, when I eventually got to see a chap, he was as charming as the day is long but 100% unintelligible. Call me an old racist if you will, but surely making oneself understood to one's patients is an important issue for a doctor? I even wondered if, perhaps, there was a large local community with whom he might have a language in common, so I checked when I got home, only to find that his degree was from the university of Addis Ababa. And there aren't that many Ethiopians around here, I'm almost certain.

reassuring, others I find unsettling.

Mind you, the last chap I had was Greek. http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/ohwell.gif
