Of course we had our own equivalent on Irish television.

It was utterly appalling and my claim to fame (relevant to this programme) was being told to "f**k off" by one of the contestants during a task, a brief exchange of views edited out by RTE or whoever in the final cut.

Then our equivalent of Sugar went bankrupt and the whole essence of the programme was lost. Apprentice to a bankrupt, no thank you.

I recall the first series of this programme when I think it was loosely based on some sense of business acumen. Later series then should have been named as “the search to find the least f**kwitted of the candidates” though I will admit from a television perspective the name may not have been catchy.

Nobody has any genuine interest in those that have any sense of talent.

The best thing about this programme is watching the dickheads describe themselves as the new captains of industry proudly listing all their achievements, then failing in a task that is akin to fastening one's shoes without velcro.

From what I've seen of these shows, these highly qualified candidates are tasked with piling stuff high and selling it cheap. This can take the form of flogging sausage rolls to the bemused public or coming up with an ad campaign for cheap scent.
The stuff of degrees is all but forgotten as the candidates descend into a clueless free for all.
Britains commercial future, somehow assured in their hands..
