Is it the needlessly fragmented narrative?

Oh, and Patricia Arquette in Lost Highway :fawn:

In the last few months I've watched Elephant Man, Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Dune and Wild at Heart. They've all been my favourite at one point or another.

Not only was it ace but it had him doing a fair bit of that

bunch of outraged people condemning the innocuous and sweet scene where the girl is poked by the young lad's teenage hard-on during a cute embrace. Which then leads to a scene where he pierces her ear and blood comes out (i.e. symbolizing him taking her virginity). It probably couldn't have been done any nicer.

Well these people thought there was something morally wrong with the shooting of that scene, because there'd be a host of grown men around them when they performed that scene in their underwear, and hence implied that these men were taking some kind of excessive enjoyment in watching 12 year old kids in those conditions.
Now, what I want to know is WHY EXACTLY these people felt outraged. It never entered my or probably 99 percent of the viewers that anything other than a cute, innocent portrayal of teenage love or infatuation was shown, so where does the egregious aspect enter?

These people must be oblivious to their own sexual proclivities; it surely must be because they detect something sexual in that situation that they react so strongly. No one but someone who harbors those kind of tendencies would read something like that into it unless the idea was already planted in their minds.

Have you seen it? And how did you perceive that scene? And why do you think someone's motivation to complain about it comes from if not within themselves?

edit: I am aware that the first paragraph makes me sound like a pedo :hehe:

a glimpse into the real life where she's not nearly so important, liked, or talented.

Took me three days to work it out after watching it.

Naomi Watts wowzers! (And I usually don't like blondes)

It's a dark comic horror series which owes more to Hammer or Amicus stuff than it does to actual comedy.

I think an anglophile like you would love it
