Planning a week there in mid November.

Looking for a good quality hotel, a beach (for walking, not sitting) some sort of nightlife and restaurants nearby but not Ayia Napa clubland.

Research suggests Elysium in Paphos fits the bill, but any suggestions would be great.

Never go anywhere like that without hiring a car for a few days.
It's a decent base but there's a better beach up at Coral Bay and you can always plod around the old ruins of Aphrodite and other places of interest.

We had to leave Rethymnon before dawn on sunday morning but of course the tank was empty and couldn't get any petrol at that time. :-
