but that said, it does make some interesting points about how our approach is significantly different and the ways in which it works.

One thing is abundantly clear though, we need to get that commercial operation fired up toot sweet as it's really sub-optimal compared to our rivals. It's a f**king joke to be behind Schalke, Dortmund and Chelsea ffs.

I also thought Dortmund had a massive fan base.

As they would have had more 'official wine partners' than we have attacking midfielders.

Their financial standing 5-10 years ago is of no relevance to that.

They're both big clubs in modern European football, BVB probably second biggest in Germany and Chelsea in the top 2-3 in the self styled biggest league ever in the world ever.

Monies earned in those financial or calender years, the losses incurred in the overall business in previous regimes are utterly irrelevant.

Silly to argue otherwise.

If for example Chelsea had negotiated their main commercial deals in recent years (as opposed to the example where we had deals in place for 10 years previous) then success such as that in Europe would have worked in their favour.

Fundamentally they are the biggest or second biggest club in London, one of the major cities in the world. They are also annually one of the top 3 sides in the richest and globally audienced leagues in the world plus annual qualifiers for the Champions League.

While you and I may not like them the above cannot be disputed.

Basically, in commercial terms they are huge or at very least as big as us.
