scotch under our bootheel, not realising that it doesn't really work like that.

Of course, it doesn't help that that's how so many of the scots themselves like to describe the relationship.

And I know it's a flippant point but I don't imagine every single media outlet coming out strongly for the no camp helped either.

Or the late 'we'll be your best friend offer', most of which appears to have been a bit madey uppy, for that matter.

Obviously, on a practical level, I'm glad they stayed. I wasn't really relishing moving another 200miles north.

Plus, of course, a lot of those 44% were children, who are even less well-informed and more retarded than most voters.

Scottish Sun, the highest selling newspaper - was a long way from "coming out strongly" for the No campaign. Or even mildly

expenditure per head, where the poor old English appear to be at the bottom of the pile.
Some interesting stuff in here.

'No' was the only sensible option.

And, likewise, 45pc of the vote would also win you an overall majority, this current lot got just over 36pc

and probably more influential than them there London journos. What was the Grauniad's stance in the end? I tended to switch off by the latter stages of the debate

And I think the main reason they have greater expenditure per head is that they have a stronger public sector.

They like the whole anti-colonialism, pro-socialist and self-determinatory aspect, but the whole 'the Labour party being f**ked for generations to come' thing not so much.

A few of their loonier columnists were bang up for it, but the leaders were consistently anti.

'Loonier columnists' suggests that there are some less loony columnists.
