It was only this country's pathetic desperation for a British Wimbledon winner that raised otherwise meaningless questions of nationality - hardly his fault and why not exploit it for his own benefit?

As for the 'anyone but England' stuff, that's all part of the knockabout fun of the British Isles. Since when does a Scot wanting England to lose come as a surprise to anyone? Christ, I want England lose every single time they play and I was born and brought up in South London, ffs!

Suffice to say, I've never met anyone who describes themselves as an Welsh, Scottish or Irish nationalist with a good word to say about the English. Mind you, I've not met anyone who describes themselves as an English nationalist who wasn't basically a massive f**king racist.

The problem is that nationalism per se is a c**t's game. Be proud of your country by all means, but anyone who describes themselves as a nationalist usually does so because they have an axe to grind with at least one other nationality.
