He's the perfect player to bring goalscoring midfielders/wingers into the game. Sanchez, Walcott and Ramsey are going to benefit hugely. Even if he doesn't score 30+ himself, he's worth that overall because of what he brings to the rest to the team. Unlike players like Heskey or Carroll, Danny is an incredibly clever player and fantastic at retaining possession. He's not a selfish striker in the traditional sense, but he brings a lot to the table that isn't usually expected of an old-school striker.

If the only thing you want from your centre forward is a goal scorer you might be disappointed. But if you change your definition of centre forward to someone who helps the team score goals, he's as good as anyone. He'll also bag a fair few himself, mind you.

That being the way of the world, see our very own message board as a perfect example of same.

C&P of the text "Only Wenger could get a 23yr old England international striker developed at a top club for 16m. Fuming"

At which point they mysteriously turn into world beaters that Wenger should be sacked for letting go.

Young Welbeck being the prime example.

A player who when wearing a United or England shirt would be ripe for criticism, mocked and ridiculed with utter gay abandon.

We sign him and he becomes promising and could develop into a player. Very few people, with the exception of Jorge perhaps, when asked in May or June would have named the lad as a player they wanted in.

The manner of his purchase (to me) suggests he wasn't ever in our thoughts before some time yesterday. The utter stupidity that is the transfer window highlighted by the fact it was in existence for 2 months and yet clubs still needed an extension beyond midnight when the time came.

He's an underwhelming signing in some ways but in another he is a huge upgrade on the current version of Sanogo so in that respect he is very welcome. I hope he does very well for us and indeed think he might.

However, Arsene believes he is worth 16m quid and he know a f**k sight better than I do.

These quotes sound familiar though :-)

Vadim Vasilyev, right-hand man to Monaco president Dmitri Rybolovlev, denied the sale of Falcao, the marquee signing of a massive summer 2013 spending spree, signalled a scaling down of the Russian billionaire's vision for the club.
"I regret the depature of Radamel Falcao, particularly for our supporters," he said. "But we considered that, from the moment the player had expressed his wish to join Manchester United, it was not coherent to stand in his way.
"It is interesting to see that today, the very biggest clubs wish to sign our players. But our project doesn't stop here, and we're going to continue improving and give everything to have the best season possible.
"I wish Radamel all the best at Manchester United, but I'm sure that we're going to get results this season."

I'm sure they'll be less worried about losing Welbeck, who couldn't buy a game, if they win something and or finish top 4 next season.

I'm not sure how I feel about the Welbeck signing but it's happened so I have no choice but go with. He's an Arsenal player so he'll have my support and occasionally my err if necessary (IMO). We have a good squad but I don't think its the strongest (physically or technically) in the PL or CL but sometimes you don't need to be to win something.

Here's hoping it goes well for us and we win something again this season.
