I think you are a bit harsh on Cook though - with the right player alongside him ie Hales. Vince had a big chance on Saturday and fluffed his lines. Would love to see him come in. Hope Hales does well and he get in the Test side a la Trescothick. I miss Trescothick

I really want to see him do well as test captain, he's such a nice chap and I think not being in the ODI setup will give him a better chance of that.
It is a bit harsh you're right and he is capable of batting through, like Trott used to, perhaps I'm guilty of being just a bit too eager to see all the young exciting players blooded.
I just think his shot selection is very limited and in one day you can't just leave balls which are fairly full outside off stump, I'm worried it will affect his confidence as well.
In Australia especially it is going to be big scores and clearing the ropes, Finch, Warner etc, Hales is a start but I still think someone like Roy would give us a much better chance.
