I see no need at all for the spray, which only serves to slow down the game.

turns his back. The spray actually saves time by removing the need for the ref to keep going back to the wall, moving it about and booking people. Everyone who's ever watched football has seen this farce play out thousands of times. A solution that removes it can only be a good thing.
