I visited Salisbury Cathedral today for the first time in my life having driven by it many times and

thought it, from a distance, rather plain. What a stunning piece of architecture it is when you get up to it. I have gawped in amazement at Notre Dame, Hagia Sofia and The Blue Mosque but I think this place pips them all. Well done the English.
