than any 'creative' player or forward.

Only based on their last 500 games though.

Per captain. He knows he's getting benched.

first choice for Dortmund and Germany. It's not that hard Rich

seeing as we seem to be looking at crocks (Agger) to replace the one we lost.
If they're keeping Hummels maybe we can bid as they have Sokratis also.

arguably never look quite as good with other partners imo. Dortmund seem quite determined to keep their big names and they don't come much bigger than Sokratis Papastathopoulos

He would be signed as 1 of 3-4 defenders (realistically 3) to fight it out for 2 places. If he merited the position ahead of messers Koscielny or Mertesacker then he is in.

doesn't rotate there so less chance to prove yourself as our beloved ex-captain found out

I think during the home loss to Bayern, I hope Klopp doesn't insist on bringing his medical team with him when he comes, they're on a par with ours.

Not only their back four but Bender and Gundagon were missing as well

although unluckily for them they only have one of him.

I think what I was awkwardly trying to say is that we shouldn’t be buying for a fixed position in the hierarchy as such. You buy a player to challenge for the first team, not to just accept himself as third choice. The so called 3rd choice should be every bit as good as the first two as he will be called upon during the season, perhaps for extended periods if injury dictates. We were after all extremely fortunate with the current duo last term.

The exception to the above is a player at either end of his career, either an eager young buck learning his trade (Chambers/Sanogo) who will hopefully bide his time and he happy to take his chance as and when, or the more experienced lad at the other end who is there very much as cover. The 4th choice if you will.

Or you just take Song back from Spain, hope he has learned a few lessons from his time there and he covers all bases including the mythical DM fixation.
