One problem is that our identity is not only a private affair.
In order to vote, stay legally in a country, have access to public services, an identity is required. That identity is based on some "facts".

Fluid identities is a potential problem for a modern society. Let's say you feel very strongly that you are 21, instead of 17. Or you feel very strongly that you are British, not Iraqi. Obviously acknowledging those identities will have implications.

So which identies should we accept as fluid and which should we not?

It does not bother me very much that a man identifies as a woman, but it does have implications in the sphere of politics and law.

I am aware that this is purely a bureaucratic argument, but it raises a more important question about who has the right to define the characteristics of "you".
