Vermaelen is not a bad player really, just has lost the confidence of Wenger. He may as well f**k off now and we get a few sheckles for him. Other managers may fancy him, that's how it works.

It was just a reference to how few alternatives have been mentioned anywhere, I also think Vermaelen was slightly overrated even at his peak, his goal scoring perhaps clouded some peoples judgement on his defensive capabilities.
