I must admit I have not seen him this season but seen him a lot in the past and he doesn't really do anything. Not sure why he is so highly rated. Good batsmen mind. Atherton said a few years back that he thought his bowling wasn't great but could see him getting into the side as a batting all rounder

'form' don't come into it. Maybe with a batsman, but not with a spin bowler. If a chap can't motivate himself to bowl well for Essex in the second division, I can't really blame him. It just seems a waste of talent to me.

Plus, of course, the Pietersen saga has rather muddied the waters with regard to disciplinary issues.
