I've read a few articles recently which have alluded to, but crucially not elaborated on, the fact that TH isn't very well thought of in France.

Why is this? The man's a god and is about as bloody french as you can get, how can it be that he's not loved over there as much as he is here?

stems from there.

He never clicked with Zidane on the pitch either, and there were rumours of problems betweeh them, which lead to the french public siding with Zizou who was always charming whereas Henry was considered aloof.

Zidane also had probably his best career games for france whereas henry reserved his for Arsenal.

with suspicion back home is quite common, especially in poorer nations like Brazil when players leave for Europe.

Also, the only French people who have any reason to give much of fúck about Henry are about the 27 natives of a small principality that isn't even actually in France.

Also, you have to remember that when he was playing, it was Zidane rather than he who was the poster boy for French football. I remember always being quite surprised how little you saw his image in France at the time as opposed to ZZ, who was ubiquitous.

closest thing to Cruyff there's been since.

PS I'm off to Apeldoorn this weekend, rather excited to be going on holiday in holland.

I shall, however, not be touching Herrings as fish are dirty animals that should not be eaten. The sea is after all where we chuck all of our ****e.
