I think Cook should take the summer off international cricket, go back to scoring runs for Essex and then we'll see how we're looking.

Was in Palma the first couple of nights and then stayed up in Valldemossa - stunning little village which you should be sure to visit if you've not done so already.

Had a car, though, so explored some of the pebbly little coves in the north and did some diving. Also went out east to Cala Rajata, Cala D'Or etc and had a lovely meal last night in Puerto Andratx.

Broad has no proven captaincy credentials - his handling of the 2020 side is hardly outstanding is it and he's not exactly bowling that well either. Can't see him as the answer to the captaincy debate. I think the fact that he shows he is an utter idiot with the bat doesn't help. Not to mention his continual teapot stance when anything goes remotely wrong in the field.


Having said that who is there. Bring back Strauss imo can't score less runs than Cook

plenty of facilities etc then the north possibly isn't the best bet (Cala Formentor in the north is nice, though). But if you are looking for stunning scenery, beautiful restaurants/hotels and fantastic hiking, then I'd certainly suggest the north. It's also only a 25 minute drive from Palma (although you can get to pretty much any part of the island within an hour).

The far south of the island is also pretty smart.

I have heard people seriously doing the same.
I'm not sure there is anyone, Andrew Gale at Yorkshire is a good captain but his form was so bad he actually dropped himself from the side at one point.
I'd say Bell but I'm not sure he'd take it.

but Bell refused to bat 3, meaning we had to put Ballance there on his debut, fortunately he has done pretty well.
Also I'm not sure how appealing it is leading this England team, it's a shambles atm.
