MARVEL superhero Thor couldn't help getting carried away as filming for the 2015 Avenger's sequel continued at the former Metropolitan Police Peel Centre in Colindale.

Exclusive footage passed to The Press shows Chris Hemsworth's Norse demi god Thor, complete with iconic red cape hanging onto the front of an ambulance as it hurtles forward outside the now-derelict police training centre in Aerodrome Road.

Over the past month The Peel Centre site, which is set to be redeveloped into a housing development and primary school, has been transformed into the fictional Eastern European city of Sokovia. The Met Police signs have been replaced with Serbian Cyrillic writing, while a Soviet-style statue of an unidentified figure has been placed outside the building.

Other footage handed to us by a Colindale resident, who did not want to be named, shows dozens of extras rioting outside a Sokovian supermarket as tear gas cannisters and buildings explode all around them.

To the east of the site a near full-size medieval-era sandstone castle has been constructed, while the entire area is surrounded by 60ft high inflatable green screens.

The unnamed resident said: “It's unbelievable what is going on at all hours. It has been quite something to see. We have been calling the area Colingwood.”

Neither the Metropolitan Police nor Marvel owners Disney have confirmed that shooting has taken place on the site, but in June residents living on the adjacent Beaufort Park housing development were sent letters warning that a film codenamed “After Party” would begin filming next door. Signs reading “AP Location” have been seen around the Colindale area.

After Party is known to be the code name for director Joss Whedon's sequel to 2012's hugely successful Avengers Assemble.

As well as Chris Hemworth, the film reunites stars Robert Downey Junior as Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, plus newcomers Aaron Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen as brother and sister super heros Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

value for me, I'm afraid.

Take Avengers for example. You know exactly what'll happen 30 minutes in advance, there is no character development, the plot is lazy, and it's just a bricolage of each super heroes' own 'universes'; their catchphrases and idiosyncracies fused together in this hyper-spectacle. Captain America, Iron Man, etc. etc. they're all essentially the same character in their respective movies; movies whose storylines once again is basically structured the same and THEN put together in a NEW movie with the exact same ****.

f**k me, you'd really have to be a comic book geek to enjoy that kind of churned-out-to-make-money-with-little-to-no-substance ****e.
