With this one, though, everything you thought about the **** is true.

The overwhelming impression that you get is his sheer mental laziness. God knows how he made it as a professional footballer. He quite clearly has very, very little interest in football and despite the huge money he is paid to offer opinions has no desire to educate himself beyond his narrow, dated view of the game.

Remember once having a meeting with the then editor of The Times around the time the Game was first launched - apparently Hansen was "offered" as a star pundit to get the readers in. Said editor described how he looked at the wage demands, read one of his columns and just laughed.

Hansen had 10 or whatever years on MOTD where they had about 2-3 minutes to talk about match highlights, more often than not the ridiculous task of talking the public through the goals.

Neville has about 3 hours to fill. He is admittedly very good at it.
