that he would rather be anywhere - certainly on a golf course - than on a sofa watching it, adding very little to any debate other than sneering criticism, being paid a fortune out of taxpayers money for the privilege and being a bit of an arse. All that did sort of annoy me

I'll be delighted to see him gone, although as I said at the time of Andy Gray's passing, we should be careful what we wish for, for who knows which monstrosity may follow. We were lucky with the Neviller, but who might replace Hansen? What if it was Savage? :yikes:

a programme like that that your pre-conceptions about someone crumble a little, as you learn more about their life and what makes them tick.

With this one, though, everything you thought about the **** is true.

The overwhelming impression that you get is his sheer mental laziness. God knows how he made it as a professional footballer. He quite clearly has very, very little interest in football and despite the huge money he is paid to offer opinions has no desire to educate himself beyond his narrow, dated view of the game.

f**k me you have to see what we endure over here.

Hansen did not suffer fools in his analysis, despite more often that not having one sat beside him and another asking the questions.

There is more to be learnt about the game from listening to Gary Neville for 10 minutes than from Hansen in a whole career.

20 years of that punditry gives a fair impression though. Remember once having a meeting with the then editor of The Times around the time the Game was first launched - apparently Hansen was "offered" as a star pundit to get the readers in. Said editor described how he looked at the wage demands, read one of his columns and just laughed.

Then again he was possibly the same editor who put Michael Owen and Jonny Wilkinson on the payroll :rubchin:

Hansen had 10 or whatever years on MOTD where they had about 2-3 minutes to talk about match highlights, more often than not the ridiculous task of talking the public through the goals.

Neville has about 3 hours to fill. He is admittedly very good at it.

just returned from the pub and had a kebab in front of me. And I hate pubs.

My favourite games are ones like Ipswich against, say, Sunderland, particularly when the sun is shining. I like to imagine what it's like to be 24 and playing centre-forward for Ipswich, going out to Sinderella Rockefellers on the Saturday evening after the game... I bet you get the roped-off VIP area. And all the girlies want an autograph on the bottom.

to analyse them. Which he does by saying, "peace, pooah, pus, muv, shwken defenden." All is a bored, superior monotone.

Every. Single. Time. And I have to pay for him.
