View Full Version : I recall many people slagging the club off for letting our best players go and comparing us

unfavourably with Liverpool after they held on to Suarez last season, and yet...
Van Persie 6 years
Cesc 8 years
Henry 8 years
Vieira 9 years
Bergkamp 11 years
Pires 6 years
Suarez 4 years
Torres 3.5 years

...who are both the most recent ones.
I still don't know how I'll handle seeing Cesc in a Chelsea shirt, the cheating little perfidious backstabbing turncoat dead eyed c**t ******* f**k.

and them reaching maturity just at the point our capacity to compete was stymied by external factors.
Anyway, Torres and Suarez will both have left Liverpool at 27 - generally considered the optimum year for footballers.

not handing over a ready made player to a rival at a massively discounted price, which is what we did.

And anyway, we are looking for precedents here. Liverpool were held up as one, and yet as my stats show, they have done even worse (far worse) than us in holding onto their marquee players.
To maker matters, worse, both Torres and Suarez won fúck all before leaving.

as an alternative to our stance previously on van Persie in particular. Not really sure why players who left six/seven years earlier have. Of course Liverpool were in a slightly stronger position due to the length of contract but largely this is just silliness on both sides

at a bigger club. Whether 25 million better I don't know but I do find some of the criticism of him rather unjustified
granted, it's not Andy Carroll lunacy

It might be a leeeeetle beet of an apples/oranges comparison for me anyway.

They'll probably get a decent whack for Suarez despite the ban too.
the other was considerably younger and prolific goal scorer for years
I actually thought we got a very good deal, especially as in last year of his contract

That said, I'm enjoying taking up this position for a change :hehe:

Negotiating a decent whack for them would be considered "putting up more of a fight"

when 1 of them still hasn't gone, is not exactly a compelling set of statistics

They saved face last summer in standing up to a domestic rival waving their cheque book, also to a player who many thought was trying to force a move (even though I think it is now beyond any doubt that the real reason we never signed him last summer is quite simply that he did not want to play for us).
They secured CL football, their primary aim for the season, largely aided by the services of the player they forced to stay.
Now one year later they could well double the sum offered by us and if they invest it well will come up much the stronger. Lallana is already a very good buy, 1-2 others financed by Suarez and perhaps they won’t be the flash in the pan I thought.
I don’t really recall many people slagging us off / comparing us to them, but then I cannot recall what I had for my tea last Tuesday, nor do I spend my time storing up memories to try and use them again in the future to slag off our own support.
refused to sell even though we met the release clause. Ivan said it would have taken 3 or 4 months in court to get it sorted and it wasn't worth the hassle

Gazidis is a ****er, wouldn't trust that c**t if he told me grass was green. He's either a Yank or a South African, not sure which but in reality both just different grades of c**t.
Suarez could have forced that, would have forced that had Liverpool refused to sanction an offer from one of the Spanish biggies for instance.
Didn't want to come.
And that is actually a fact and an end of.

Very impressed any time I saw him last season.

I think the fact he went to a tabloid to try and force a move to us says a lot.
So no, no "end of" at all. :****er:

And a factual one at that.
Now, which tabloid article are you referring to?

Van persie left as soon as he managed a couple of injury free seasons. Which leaves cesc whose 8 years started when he was 16 and in the youth team.
Oh, and suarez hasnt left yet by the way.
