assuming J's mate is right

surely he would have accepted 80-90k?

The other thing is, is he that good?

When I have seen him he looks fine, steady but hasn't particularly stood out.

playing in the premier league for 5-6 years before they signed him as well and was considered one of the best in europe in his position.

the fees are high because the market is crazy. Cesc went for less than they signed Herrera, Garay has just been sold for £12m, Aurier can be had for under £10m.

have to overpay as players would obviously rather go to CL clubs

I thought that as well as missing £40m of CL money it would probably also cost them another £40m (at least) in inflated fees and wages

for as long as I can remember makes me automatically file this in the "too good to be true" category.

Same with Javi Martinez, who we were linked with for about an hour.

Although we weren't linked with his agent.

giving off strong hints we're after him. I also think a winger like Pedro/Di Maria/Sanchez is far more likely than a striker.

it's small margins, those chances he hits at the keeper in big games.

Did it again v Ecuador

We need to get more pace in the side and him and Ozil will really excel imo

and make a £10million loss - which is absolutely f**k all for United.

Rich

strikers without pace are either very strong, which Giroud isn't or very skillful, which Giroud isn't.

It means that when he comes up against top defenders he really struggles to impose himself.

like £80-90m over 10 years.

Ben.

but if you have Sanchez and Walcott (for example) either side then Giroud's pace isn't really a problem, if they push up they'll get killed in behind and if they drop off (which they would have to) then Giroud will score goals.
Look at Klose, highest ever goalscorer in World Cup history, he's not quick.
