Given our injury history he would have played a lot

I will sympathise with you. Until then just enjoy at least part of the UK you can legitimately support being in the finals. Maybe you should drop the Mc for the duration.

The strength in depth argument I get, and with our injury record is a one worth making, especially if we still have enough money to get the players we more urgently need in other positions.

But how many points a season does a "statement of intent" get you?

in your squad, according to this man's analysis.

It must literally be magic, Richard.

to spend money to deliver that. I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. I also think the buzz around the club would have helped potentially attract big names who otherwise may not be impressed.

As for the likes of Lambert, not saying we should have signed hime but when we signed the lesser known Dixon, Winterburn etc etc, so called journeymen footballers they proved that its not always the superstars who deliver.

At 30 mill given the inflated prices now he is starting to look good value as well and as you agreed with our injury history we almost certainly need him.

Anyway I don't know, that's why I am a doorman and AW is the manager

Ben.

Do we really need two "statements of intent" in the same position within eight months of one another?

Ashberto

And the assumption is that the manager is going to prioritise his budget on that area.

We spent £42 million on a player last summer. Did you find that intenty? Perhaps we'll spend around £30m or more on strikers. Would you like that?

Emirates. Ozil on his own is not enough.

Ashberto

which were holding us back.

The transfer window has only been open for two weeks ffs.

devongunner

then who will feed this new striker. I agree the priority may be a striker but we definitely need strength all round. I do understand however budgets and priorities but am speaking as a fan. I doubt anyone here was happy Cesc went to Chelsea and regardless of priorities believe all would be very happt now if he was coming back to us.

Anyway he isn't so onwards and upwards

I also said that Fabregas was a "fùcking good player".

I'm not sure that you're being entirely fair in this discussion, as you don't seem to have read what either of us has said. :-(

And as a matter of fact, I did want us to sign him at first, and even emoted this opinion on here. But we haven't, and I'm prepared to wait and see who we sign instead before getting too upset about it.

Ramsey and Ozil. Two outstanding midfielders, and these are the two main reasons why I believe le boss didn't buy Cesc. If we had all the strikers and defenders and goalies we needed then I expect he would have bought him.

wouldn't you? You know what I mean by the stadium

Ben.

But chances are it will be one marquee signing at most and I'd much rather Javi Martinez, Alexis Sanchez or Benzema, basically an area we're not already overloaded.

great player however. Weren't both he and Ozil injured for quite a bit of last season?

I would tbh and him going there has compounded it but I can see why we did it, if we had a more balanced squad it may have been different.

I am also over it. We can discuss in the season if it really was a mistake once we have some more evidence either way.

He is a good player, he would have been a good signing for us, there is much more emotion attached than with any other player, but we didn't get him and I believe the manager had his reasons.

That's all. Looking forward to Benzema, Remy, Rooney and lampard!!

that created an assist which was more what I was referring to . We still sometimes struggle to open up other teams. Ozil and Cesc can do that, as of course can Ramsey just not as much. He is more talented in other areas though I agree

I wanted him back. Strength in depth and more importantly, statement of intent.

Look, I loved Cesc too, but Ben summed it up very neatly when he said "if we had a more balanced squad it may have been different.". wd Ben.

Don't think we disagree about Cesc.

But I agree it was well summed up and I am happy to leave it there. I am already over it :0)
