View Full Version : So far I have seen a total of two vehicles sprouting St George flags.

Both white vans, naturally. On one hand it's good to see that expectations are at sensible levels, with the debate restricted to whether England have a chance of getting out of their group, but on another it seems that support for a team is only dependent on the expectation of success. In which case Arsenal have done quite well to have (mostly) filled their ground over the last few years.

reclaimed from the far right - and by Englishers of all colours and creeds.

Are you saying that panic-mongering by the main parties and the liberal-left over UKIP is having more infuence than the fact that no-one thinks England are any good?

until you reach Southgate road. Where all the people are standing in a sensible single file line at the bus stop it's very old fashioned.

Speaking of which that area used to be ****ty too. Now it's 'Posh' and that Gainsborough studios area.

Blame the NIMBYs in the shires and the environmentalists for not allowing desperately-needed new housing to be built where there is space for it.

Even though I bought my modest one-bed place at the height before the last crash (2007) I'm glad I managed it then at it's completely impossible now. What I have noticed is the gradual replacement of the awful post-war social housing stock with much better contemporary stuff. Soon council house tenants in work will be better off than everyone else except the ultra rich imo.

"I didn't expect this to happen in somewhere like Dalston"

FFS, Dalston is exactly the sort of place you expect that sort of thing!

I thought better of pointing out they only lost their hipster bike, I've been left with a permanent scar.

Social housing will be replaced and improved. In 20 years time people like you will be bemoaning the new, sanitised, hipster and yuppy East End and complaining about the loss of 'character'.

So it goes.

Brixton is very cool.

No it's not. It's horrid. Last time I went there some bloke with his ear hanging off kept annoying me.
