Jesus. I know being poor isn't meant to be fun, but does it have to be this bad?

Now here's an example of what happens with menus. These are all pretty bog-standard dishes - smoked salmon, fillet of beef and tiramisu - nothing wrong with that, but there are far too many words! Why do I care that the creme fraiche is from Somerset? What is red vein sorrel and does it taste any different to normal sorrel? What is miller's beef? Who is Pedro Ximenex and why do I have to swallow his jus? What is Amedi chocolate when it's at f**king home?

It just pisses me off. :-(

Mulligatwny soup
Prawn cocktail

Beef Wellington
Chicken Kiev
Veal Cordon Bleu
Steak Diane
Dover Sole Meuniere

Peach Melba
Black Forest Gateau

That is a good, honest menu.

Literally the only bit of that that explains anything is 'tomatoes'

Le Buffet du Gare in Calais, for lunch.

Their Welsh Complet is a thing of utter, utter joy.

I'm going to be monumentally pished tomorrow night, then have to drive home and go flying at 4, then watch Holland get brutalised by Spain. The whole thing sounds a total f**king nightmare.
