Malaysian chinese food is magnificent. Malay food is largely dull with little kick.

Includes coconut milk with beef and tatties?

You might want to leave your Holiday Inn and try the local food once in a while p

Seriously though, ARE YOU DISSING ROTI CANAI? I made roti canai at a roadside stall last year, this fella was mad keen that I had a go. I was rubbish at it.

It should only be eaten in the south of Thailand, of course. They don't know how to make it up north.

That i would stay at a f**king holiday inn???

Next time you are in Kl i will show you a superb roti place....up past the towers and open all night. Seriously good, proper food.

Actually I fúcking love a room service club sandwich, me.

I'm far from convinced I'll ever be in KL again. I just don't like it much. Bangkok is my city, I f**king adore it.

Made it once took half a day then before I could use it again it went mouldy. Dried shrimp paste is not pleasant.

With the hooligans and holidaymakers.

There is one place i always visit. An informal and cheap chinese a short walk fro the shangri -la. They do an excellent soft shell crab and szechuan chicken.

The best food is in penang though....

in Langkawi. The wild duck curry is enough to make all ten toes on a castrated arab stand on end.

The malay run everything (public sector)
The chinese own everything (private sector)
The indians do all the work

And it is all our fault :-)

I first went in 1998 and I returned last year; nothing much had changed, it was still relatively undeveloped.

A small london borough....

The centre of kl is being smashed to pieces for new banks and hotels. In five years time everything with any charm will have gone from the centre blocks.

every January, from the moment the driver meets you at the door of the aeroplane and ushers you through the private passport office.

Have you stayed at the E&O? It's one I need to tick off one day.

Peter
06-06-2014, 01:11 PM
Heritage suite, obviously. I dread to think whst sort of ****er would go there and opt for the new victory annexe.

Have never stayed at raffles but i am assured that the e&o is just a tiny bit better, not having all the hype and plastic history attached to it.

My favourite hotel in the world.

I very much like Raffles. It's easy to see through the veneer and taste the atmosphere underneath. The Raffles' in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap are also valuable oases of calm and luxury in a rather more Wild West environment.

They told me thst americans always complain about the old style phones and creaky floorboards and...the lack of double glazing :hehe: :hehe:

Breakfast by the sea with butler service...waking to a freshly ironed newspaper and opening your windows out on to the gnently lapping shore just ten yards away....the little man in the pith helmet polishing the cannon.....

God i miss the E&O. I must, i shall, go again in september.
