For some it seems to be zero plus a military to play with whenever we get the orders from Boulevard Leopold III.
For others it seems to be whatever the highest previous level was plus a bit more because there’s always some needy cause.

The suggestion that it should be somewhere between these two usually elicits shrill rebukes from both sides.

it is all subjective.

Personally I would start with huge savings by sacking all the MPs and making me Dictator

Do we still have quangos?

Anyway, these people that sit around making reports that suggest we need new legislation which in turn sets a precedent for the need to make more reports recommending further legislation and so the dreadful bureaucracy self-perpetuates.

Cnuts to a man.

I'm depending on dying of cancer - it's basically my plan for (avoiding) old age.

A clean-living chap like yourself will live more or less forever, surely?

Old age is scarier than death imo.

I was always fascinated by the way things just outside the train window zoomed past in a blur while things further away took a more relaxed approach to the journey.

Then they realised that most of their decisions were based on ideology so had to set up some new quangos hiring most of the staff they'd laid off - mostly through your Accentures and KPMGs - at considerable expense on hugely elevated day rates.
