So if Blair had been more lefty the working classes wouldn't be concerned about immigration?

This in turn left a vacuum with many on the left not feeling represented, the sheer amount of ordinarily left leaning people voting for UKIP now is a direct result of this disenfranchised demographic.

loss of sovereignty? They're just rudderless because the Labour party isn't there to control their thoughts?

Isn't politics amazing?

a subtle difference but an important one I am sure you will agree as an immigrant yourself

..ed. That anger gets transferred and has to manifest itself somewhere.

The EU has done a huge amount, just look at the Objective 1 & 2 funding for starters, for poorer areas and has funded swathes of regeneration across the country.

You know it is rubbish. I was trying to help you dude.

Incidentally, the disenfranchised argument is seriously old hat. There has always been a substantial dislike of the EU in Britain for no real reason. This is an expression of that at a round of pointless elections.

And of course, the results are not the issue. The concern is the shift in debate.

...them, or have their best interests at heart.

I don't feel that the working classes feel that their government cares about them or will protect them so in this case Sovereignty is very much a straw man argument.

The idea UKIP, a party headed up by a stockbroker, funded by neoconservative businessmen and who are determined to strip people of basic, fundamental rights on important stuff like labour rights, are somehow on the side of the common man is the real feat here and for this conceit they should be applauded.

That's before we get into other stuff like pisspoor social mobility.

I take your point about the focus of the debate, it's probably more sensible at this point for anybody with a brain to start learning a foreign language and checking out the EU schools systems.

Mind you, the sort of mercenary who goes to fly for Emirates is the kind of thick ******* who thinks it's great that he can have a 'gloamourous' apartment and a Phillipino maid in the hellhole that is Dubai, paying no tax at all.

Fúck them.

To grovel over seats. To be fair they did upgrade me as an apology but even so, the *******s. I had to sit there for two hours at the airport waiting with a woman from work who i had come dangerously close to shagging a night or two earlier. It was bloody awkward :-)
