Can anyone else remember the Arsenal team playing an annual cricket match during pre-season?
I have a vague recollection of watching the Arsenal squad play a cricket match against some small local team – Monken Hadley maybe or Finchley CC. Possibly even Enfield CC, although that's veering more towards Spurs territory.
I remember Seaman batting and 'Andrew Cole' bowling, although Cole was only on the fringe of the first team squad at the time and was only drafted as he was a fairly pacey bowler.
Does anyone else remember these annual games?
We should also restart this tradition. Who knows what the foreign players would make of it. Poldi as an aggressive all-rounder? Özil batting at number 11, Szczesny or Fabianski as wicket-keeper?
