Theo is a must on the right, because of his pace and goals. Cesc is not a # 9. So there are only two options
Either Ozil/Cesc share through in-game permutations the left sided and # 10 duties (Ozil like to drift there anyways). In that case, Santi, Podolski lose their starting place and we lose an opportunity to inject pace on the left.
Or, Rambo and Cesc become the base of midfield, in which case there is no one really shielding the defense. Say whatever you want about Arteta, his discipline in that position has been very important to us. if anything, we need someone to do this better and with more pace and power (Martinez, Bender, etc.), no go back to the gogo days when Song bombed forward athe first opportunity
In brief, of course, you do not pass on Cesc given the cheap buy-back clause we put in there (with prescience, in turns out.) But Ozil and Rambo (who are younger) make his reinsertion very problematic...
