The normal thing to do when you have a traumatic loss -- insofar as you aren't a melancholic, -- is to go through rituals of mourning and thereby symbolize the trauma of loss; you accept it and in this way you normalize it and you can go on.

I went through the same metonymical shifting of objects of desire from Anelka to Cole and Vieira to Henry to Cesc and Nasri and van Persie etc etc.
My ritual involves defecation on their pictures and crying in the foetal position in the shower with a bottle of booze for a few days until I am ready to direct my adoration to someone else who will invariably dissapoint me and throw my arsenal-related idealized self-image into question.

These days my libidinal energy is invested in Ramsey and Özil :wave:
Expect them to be gone by the end of the summer.

I have been lurking the board since around '06.

My raison d'etre for being here is to get modd back. His overexuberance provided me with much entertainment in my anonymous years and it filled me with great sadness not to see him ****ting up the board after the magnificent FA-cup triumph he had already predicted at the beginning of the season (probably).
