Goa ahead and play your 4-4-2 but you won't be able to play Wilshere and Ramsey together because a) it would severely restrict Ramsey's ability to jump into the play and b) Wilshere will set a record for most cards in a season. The best central midfielders we have had in 4-4-2 have been defence first players who were physical enough to get things done when they had to. Of course you first think of Vieira and Petit, but Gilberto was no shrinking violet, his baby face let him get away with more than he should.
Ramsey and Wilshere? I don't think so, unless you put Rambo out wide and paired Wilshere with a physical defensive type ... that we don't have. So now you have to go out and buy a defensive midfielder instead of playing our standard 4-2-3-1 that our personnel is built for and spend money where it is most needed.
