Make him the most expensive full back ever?

Seriously though, I'd imagine it would be in the top ten transfer fees ever, let alone for full backs.

If Liverpool or Arsenal spend that sort of money, people seem to laugh and say "pfffft, no way can they be worth that". If it's Chelsea or Man City, people roll their eyes and talk about oil money. But somehow with United people say "Oh, that's a great move, he'll be worth so much more in 5 years, and now the club will have him for 10-15 years. Well done United."

idk if I really have a point here. Hi AWIMB.

the fact that they have clearly had far more money to spend than any other team for most of the Premiership years.

I do realise, of course, that they also make the most money from their ridiculously large fan base.

– or at least in exchange for Clive Allen with both players valued at £1m each.

Like Shaw, Sansom was also young at the time and must have been about 21 or 22. A £1m deal for Sansom was mind-boggling at the time and a world-record for a full-back, but he proved well worth it.

Personally I think Shaw is a bargain. He's more talented than Gibbs and whoever buys him will probably have England's first choice left back for the next 15 years.
